It was...my Birthdate

Snow berry Star apple gave me quite possibly the best gift ever, a wand which stats follow:

13 1/2 inches, confidently crafted from rowen and housing a unicorn hair for the core. Rowen trees are believed to possess magical powers and protect against malevolent beings, this in combination with The single hair from the tail of the alpha male of the northern Forbidden Forrest unicorn herd, gives the wand a dominant attitude and superb leadership qualities. These characteristics suggest this wand be excellent for dueling whilst in the hands of a steady, confident wizard. The wand chooses the wizard, and I am an excellent dueler.

Green Machine

Sweetsop is borrowing my luggage, before I carried it out to her car I put a little gift in the top front pocket. I giggled to myself the whole time I carried it down the driveway. I'm sure she'll want to pack something in the pocket, but...

What I'm hoping is that she doesn't open the pocket until she gets to the airport and discovers she needs to put something in it...and then when she opens the pocket, the box of condoms I put there comes flying out!

It's Fon-to-due!

Sweetsop Passion fruit (and Elderberry of course) hosted girls night Friday, in attendance was Gooseberry Banana, Apricot Pomegrante and newly added to the fruit salad: Apple Durian. The important part of the evening was that I made fondue and it was hot (and Fon to due). The important part of Saturday was thrifting, dress shopping, ring browsing and Sheer Cover (a proper review to follow in the near future).

Stop Number 1: Treasures Thrift Store
The result of thrifting, got a bunch of these all painted differently,
so adorable and for the Olive baby of course
Stop Number 2: Wedding Accents Couture
Gooseberry found the perfect dress, which was of course the first one she tried on, I have a photo but am too paranoid that by some outrageously crazy twist of events Gooseberry's fiance might see it, so no photo.

Stop Number 3: Panera
Got cheese on my chin

Stop Number 4: Jared the Galleria of Jewelry
We ALL tried on rings...it was awesome

Stop Number 5: Mall
Got the Sheer Cover starter kit, I've been curious about mineral make up for oh, like 7 years, so I finally stopped at a kiosk only to have the sales guy comment on my sweaty hand, but hey at least my pits were dry

bonafide bitch fest no more

I don't know if the title of the post is recognizable, but I have two other previous posts with similar titles "bonafide bitch fest...deal with it" and "bonafide bitch fest...resolved?" the first was from December 2010 and highlighted me complaining about sweating an insane amount and that it ruins my life. The second was from April 2011 about how I would be going to see a dermatologist about Botox shots under my arms to stop the sweating. Well...long story short (because the long version contains too much info on insurance hassles and prescription confusion) Tuesday, it happened, and I would just like to say "Hello, my name is Jennifer, and I've been living sweat free for 2 days. Thank you"

Beauty and the Review: Lipstick

What: Lipstick

Brand: CoverGirl

Color: Enchantress (365)

Coverage: "One coat is fine, but I like to do two, because more is much more better

Longevity: The lipstick kind of stains your lips, so when you wake up in the morning don't be surprised to find your lips still pink (Vaseline and a Kleenex get rid of it). That being said, your lips get a bit stained, so the color is there, but the lipstick look kind of goes away. Perhaps a lip primer is a good idea.

Positives: This color is a very pink, very bright, very Barbie. I love it.

Negatives: I wish this color had some sheen to it, but that's what clear lip gloss is for.

In a nut shell: I used to never wear lipstick, now I do

Cuff links Father?

If I had treasure that needed to be buried I would dig a really really deep hole, put my treasure chest in it, cover it up with a few feet of dirt and put another treasure chest with only a few items in it, on top of that dirt and then finish burying it. That way, if someone stole my map they wouldn't get my treasure, because who would continue to dig after they found a chest with a few riches in it? And let's be serious, I wouldn't need a map.

Birthday vs Birthdate

It makes more sense to me that the day we celebrate our birth be called our Birth Date, like "Happy Birth date" rather than "Happy Birthday", Birthday just makes me think of the exact DAY you were born, you will never be born again, that should be your BirthDAY. Then, for the rest of our lives we celebrate our Birth DATE, the DATE on which we were born. On legal information they ask for Birth date, implying they want the year, month, the whole shebang. Again, BirthDAY seems to work better here for me because it is the only DAY you were born.

Beauty and the Review: Dry Shampoo #2

What: Dry Shampoo

Brand: TRESemme FreshStart

Line: Smoothing, for Straight/Normal Hair

Application: "Aerosol", spray on roots all over scalp, rub in

Effectiveness: Sub-par

Longevity: Longevity is difficult to determine as the effectivenss was um...not effective? I guess it should be noted that it does not get worse as the day goes on, hair still looks kinda dirty after application and stays that way

Positives: Can't seem to find many, the only thing that this product has going for it is its scent, it's not amazing, but it's not overpowering either, I can appreciate that. TRESemme has more than one dry shampoo, so maybe the Smoothing for Straight/Normal Hair, is not a good one, I may explore their other options in the future, but right now I have very little faith.
Negatives: I used this product several times, I tried using a "regular" amount, I tried the "less is more" approach and went at it with a "more is much more better" attitude, none of these proved to work. When I used a lot, it made my hair look dirtier and when I used very little, my hair looked dirty because it was still dirty. Using what I thought was a "regular" amount I got a combination of the too much product and not enough product looks. Dirty.

In a nut shell: I would not suggest you purchase this particular line, but I think it's too soon to write of all types of TRESemme dry shampoo

Beauty and the Review: Dry Shampoo #1

What: Dry Shampoo
Brand: Suave
Application: Aerosol spray (OK I know it's not really aerosol but I don't know how else to describe it), spray at roots all over scalp, rub in
Effectiveness: Hides dirty, greasy hair very well, I'm a believer
Longevity: Lasts as long as I've ever needed it to, which has been all day (by all day I do not mean a 24 hour period)
Positives: As I said, the Suave dry shampoo hides greasy hair very well, it also adds volume which is hard to come by on a day of not washing hair. I've used it up to 2 days after shampooing and it works just as well on day 2 of not shampooing as it does on day 1 of not shampooing.
Negatives: The smell reminds me somewhat of pineapple, I have a very sensitive olfactory nerve, therefore it is slightly nauseating during and shortly after application. Also, the powder (that's the form in which it sprays out of the can) can lighten your hair where you apply it, this may prove to be a problem for darker hair, I've noticed this right after applying but it does not seem to be a lasting thing, again, may vary for darker hair. Final thing, hair isn't as soft after using, it becomes slightly stiff, but I don't really consider this a negative but it seem more appropriate to put it under negatives.
In a nut shell: Negatives are not a big deal, you need this

Butterfly Effect

Gooseberry Banana just got engaged (yes, yey for her), the reference to the butterfly effect is how it will affect (effect?) me and how it will effect (affect?) Dewberry. What I'm saying is, I'm probably going to be mad at him for the whole weekend, even though I have no desire to be engaged at this point.

Again, I can not understand or rationalize my behavior.

Beauty and the Review: Gel Eyeliner

I've decided to start doing reviews on my beauty products, I've pondered the idea since having a blog but just haven't really gotten around to it. I will provide the product name and other major details, review the product based on a few criteria I find important (criteria may vary based on type of product but for the most part will be the same), give a few comments and/or critisizm I feel necessary.

What: Gel Eyeliner

Brand: Maybelline New York

Line: EyeStudio

Color: Blackest Black

Application: Easier than liquid, slightly trickier than a pencil

Coverage: One swipe and done

Longevity: Lasts all day without fading or cracking

Positives: The gel liner is thicker than liquid so when there is more room for error during application, so if your hand is a bit shaky it won’t be totally obvious than if you were using liquid. The color lives up to its name, very bold black which I appreciate very much. With pencil eyeliner I find that the color seems to “bleed” down under my eyes throughout the day and I can never seem to prevent it, not an issue with the gel liner.
Negatives: The brush that comes with the liner is not as fine as that of a liquid liner, so if you want to do a thin line or cat eyes, it can be challenging, but for the most part has not been a problem. Another set-back is potential smudging, the eyeliner doesn’t dry the same as liquid so if you rub it accidently it can smear a little.
In a nut shell: Great for bold lines, not for smoky eyes.

Year of the Pheonix (Part 3)

I'm so stupid for not thinking of this sooner, my resolution should be to blog more, duh.

Disney

Dewberry and I were discussing Disney characters, he asked me which character I thought was the cutest, before I could answer I needed to know if Disney Pixar was included, which if that were the case I said Boo from Monsters Inc. But when it came down to it, only old school characters were up for consideration, my answer was then Copper from Fox and the Hound, when he's a puppy. I reciprocated the question to him and he answered Chip from Beauty and the Beast, um...what? 2 weeks later he changed his answer to Flower from Bambi, much more better.

Year of the Pheonix (Part 2)

I don't know if I have a New Year's Resolution, I started something about a month ago and I think I'm just going to stick with that. I think it should also be known that I have been rather successful with this "resolution" thus far, we'll see if this 1 month head start is the secret to victory.

2012: The Year of the Pheonix

It's going to be a good one
