I used to be wild

Summer(fest) of 69

I've been hit with an unshakable wave of nostalgia, this photo is from a weekend when Sweet sop Passion fruit, Gooseberry Banana and I drove down to Milwaukee for Summer Fest and Kumquat Desert Fig's birthday.
The first night we went down to the musical festivities I have a notorious habit for getting absolutely belligerently shit faced when I go to Milwaukee, and that weekend was no exception, although I didn't get hang overs then so it wasn't an issue like it is now.
The second day, Saturday we went up to Kumquat's cottage and spent the day on the water, we were rebels and took the boat out even though we were specifically instructed to leave her docked, our nautical urges couldn't be denied or shaken. We peeled corn on a questionable dock and used matches for birthday cake candles, everybody got too drunk again, we had numerous hilarious quotes and "that's what she said moments". That was the first summer I had a group of girl friends and I felt so lucky to have them.
The third day I went home because I had to work the following Monday, Sweet sop and Gooseberry stayed down there for another night of debauchery and to this day I believe I missed out on what was yet another fantastic evening. I wish I could make a slide show of all the photos from that weekend, well let's face it I could because I make a mean slide show, I just don't think anybody would care to actually watch it.

11OH!7

I am very satisfied with my life right now, but there are times when I would love the opportunity to go back to these days, just for a weekend, that was the only part of the week that mattered back then! It was the first Friday of the fall semester of 2008 when this photo was taken, junior year and I shared a house with Kumquat Desert fig, Kiwi Oil palm and 1 other friend (the 4 became 3 not long after, which is sad yes but life happens). During that semester my biggest concern was what I was going to wear during the weekend nights over at 808, when I look back at those nights I see myself in a damp, dim basement, with "dolla dolla bill ya'll" scribbled on the wall, meandering to the Mushroom Kingdom and back, red solo cups slopping everywhere as we learned how to play Assault and Kirk Pong, the whole time with TI blaring over the speakers drowning out most drunken conversations that I can't remember anyway. I don't know how many group hugs, beer bongs or stolen kisses took place in that basement, or how many times we sang along to Sweet Caroline at the tops of lungs and fist pumped at the appropriate moments. I do know that I will probably never have anybody break into my house wearing a wolf mask, ride a motorized cooler, end up on a side walk with my bare feet in the air after losing my friend's shoes or beat a 29 second keg stand. Good times never seemed so good.

Beauty and the Review: Facial Mask

What: Refining Mask

Brand: Proactiv Solution

Price: $23.00 for 2.5 oz

Color: NA

Application: Using fingertips, apply mask to damp cleansed skin, let sit for 10 minutes and rinse. Use 2-3 times per week, I like to use it as a spot treatment, I put it on before I go to bed and then rinse it off in the morning. (Warning, from what I understand it can bleach your pillow case so overnight may not be an option if you want to use it on your cheeks...or if you sleep with your face directly into the pillow)

Coverage: NA

Longevity: NA

Positives: I had very high expectations for Proactiv since their testimonies on TV appear to be amazing and I was not disappointed. This sulfur acne treatment claims to deep cleans to help minimize pores, and it did just that, well let's be honest it minimizes the look of my pores because it is impossible to actually shrink them. I have trouble keeping the pores on my chin clear, after using the mask just once there was a difference, not just with the look of my pores but a pimple that I had squeezed was almost completely flattened and the redness had almost disappeared. A flat slightly red spot can be covered and I was/am pleased. One last thing to be said, is that the mask seemed to kind of draw out the stuff in my pores, once it was brought to the surface of my skin it was easy to scrub away.

Negatives: I tried using this on a pimple not on my face, it did deflate it but not the way it did the one on my face, but it was still an improvement that has trumped all previous attempts so I'll take it. One last thing for the down side, the mask can dry out your skin, I haven't had it be a problem yet but I can see how it could happen.

In a nut shell: I don't use the whole Proactiv Solution system and don't feel I need to as long as I have this. I highly recommend the Proactiv Solution Refining Mask.

tiny handcuff - part 3

I don't get the point of a promise ring...unless it's the kind where you promise to stay a virgin until you get married. The other, the one that's "engaged to be engaged" or "promise you'll wait for me" or "until we're ready" is just over kill, or a pacifier.

Ballerina

First things first, I am not wearing boxer breifs, second this is not the best I can do, but we were rushed so my pose is shall we say sub-par. For the Balleria, the majority of your weight is supported by squeezing the pole between the arm and side (or back) of the body, the left leg also supports some weight, how much depends on how tightly hooked it is, (normally I prefer to straighten the left leg almost completely so it is not on the pole at all, it looks better and is slightly more difficult). I will post a better photo in the future, you (my 3 followers) deserve better than this.

fifty nifty part 4

As indicated in previous posts I want to go to all 50 states before I'm 35 (http://averagingstandard.blogspot.com/2010/12/fifty-nifty-united-states.html), well actually 49 because I have absolutely no desire to go to Texas (http://averagingstandard.blogspot.com/2011/07/fifty-nifty-part-3.html), it's safe to say that I hate hate hate Texas. Well in 10 days I'm meeting up with Dewberry in Miami, so I can cross Florida off my list, while trying to book flights I didn't rule out flights that had a stop in them, just in case the connecting flight was in a new state, well that didn't work because all the connecting flights were in states I've already been to, so I'm flying direct, no big. Also, my brother Buck Cherry is getting married in April, he lives in Oklahoma but we all know I've been there, (I have a point I promise), while looking for flights down there I was hoping to find a direct flight, seeing as we'll only be there for a weekend I want to get down there ASAP. However, all direct flights were too expensive and my connecting flight is in Texas.

Maintenance

I was walking back by maintenance today and the smell back there (not saying it was a bad smell, just a lingering smell that was distinguishable) reminded me of a Halloween mask. A plastic smell but then kind of sweet...don't question me, that's what Halloween masks smell like.

Resistance to Flow

Viscosity. I had a professor, from Minnesota of course, who every time she said the word viscosity, which was quite often, her face would contort into this weird scary look. Every time I hear or see the word viscosity that image pops into my head. Let's not forget she was from Minnesota so it wasn't fun to hear the word either.

Jasmine

Technically an Extended Jasmine because the right arm is extended, in a regular Jasmine both hands are on the pole. One thing that shouldn't be over looked is the right leg, hard to tell in this photo but it is not hooked behind the left leg, that's definitely an option but it is considered cheating.
